Free Legal Resource Sites in Washington State

When I was going through divorce (which was before I started practicing family law), I would find myself doing late night research to try to answer my own questions and ease some anxiety. Before you find yourself taking legal advice from the first thing that pops up in search engine results, I suggest seeking out information from these reliable, free sources:

Washington Law Help

WashingtonLawHelp.org, maintained by the Northwest Justice Project, is a public library of free legal information in Washington State. This site has information and tools to help with many common civil legal problems. This site has a lot of great information about family law.

Washington Courts

The Administrative Office of the Courts serves all state courts throughout Washington. Its Self Help Resources page is a good starting point, including links to court forms for all types of family law issues.

County Superior Court pages

Your county’s superior court may have helpful information on its site, particularly about any county-specific programs. King County Superior Court has a general list of Legal Assistance Resources, along with a page more specific to family law resources, including guidance on processes, forms, and court seminars.
